Goodbye L.L.F

I submited my application to the DU English newspaper club and interviewed with a beating heart. Finally, I joined the English Newspaper as a club reporter, on March 31st 2008.

From that day, my university life was about being a journalist. I went to the office every morning. I developed a knack for writing articles, doing homework, and was trained by my seniors. It was difficult because it required skill in English composition.

And on May 20th, the DU festival started. We reported each camp special event and characteristic. Unlike my other friends, we enjoyed the festival fully.

When local university students went to Seoul because of the mad cow disease problem, we went, too. We saw the scathing criticism, a performance, and went to the square in front of  city hall. When I saw the riot police bus before we arrived at the City Hall, I was scared.

The reality of the scene at the square was my wildest dreams. A huge number of people held candles, which was truly a magnificient view. Time passed and the street march was started by the chairperson. Everywhere, the army reserve controlled traffic to protect people. I saw this view and felt the soul of the Korean army.

As soon as the winter break started, we participated in 'NONG HWAL' We lived with students from the Department of Humanities for ten days. I'll never forget the experience because I was surprised by the arduous work. By their second day, the work felt easier.

After 'NONG HWAL', I was busy preparing for my first magazine. I wrote my articles after planning meetings, translated them into English, edited it, rewrote it, and edited it again...... I was dazed at this first experience but I found amusement.

My subject for the magazine was the Buchon International Fantastic Film Festival. The film festival prepared equipment that allowed people to experience a wire action, I was very impressed. But the festival featured horror as its main theme and  I hate horror. But my disappointment in the theme was relieved by the kind staff of volunteer organizers. 80% of the staff were volunteers.

And I'll never forget the magazine publication because I felt such a sense of achievement. Although the editing went wrong, I have nothing to do because my part was perfect!(laugh!!)

I say to next year's junior reporters, "Do you want to study English?" do you want to feel accomplishment? You have a good chance. Sometimes, you'll find it very hard, but you should overcome, and experience life as a reporter!!
