DU has an campus of about 2,970,000m², the biggest in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The university's founding spirit is Light, Love, Freedom. The DU English magazine LLF took its name from this idea. DU has two campuses, the Daemyung campus and the Gyeongsan campus. In the past, the Daemyung campus was the main campus, however, the Kyungsan campus became the main campus. DU is famous for its superb Department of Rehabilitation Science. But this department is located on the Daemyung campus, so some students do not attend the lectures because it is very far. If this department moves to the Gyeongsan campus, we'll see many students studying rehabilitation science.

DU announced its special encouragement learning system, 'DU readers.' DU readers encourages learning by supporting tuition fees and overseas language study expenses for students with good scores. This system will be introduced in 2009. DU has special lectures known as the 'DU culture zone'. The DU culture zone has been DU's pride and joy since it started in 2006. the lectures are for local students who find cultural issues more difficult to explore compared with students in the national capital region. Famous artists, and specialists are invited to provide lessons and performances. This lecture series is very famous because people from the community also participate.
