±èÀ±Èñ ±âÀÚ | ½ÂÀÎ2009.12.10 18:43

Heyri Art Village is located in Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province. Why is this art village named 'Heyri?' The reason is that this is the name of Paju's traditional song which was song when their forefathers farmed. This is the origin of 'Heyri.'

Heyri consists of 49 thousand pyong(514 Acre). It was planned in 1994 and it began in 1997. Also, 370 persons participated in making the village. All of the buildings in Heyri were built by different designers. Each building was designed differently with unique features. Because it was laid out to blend naturally with the environment, it didn't destroy the natural beauty such as mountains, hillocks or creeks.

The buildings didn't clash with the landscape harmonies or with the trees and mountains surrounding the buildings. Also, the streets are not poured asphalt, but natural soil or gravel.

Heyri's main visitors are students who study design or art, friends, beloved and parents with their children.

Heyri has many pavilions, and galleries such as a currency museum, a toy museum and the Character Ddargi Village named "I love Ddargi." What's more, it has the World Instrument Museum, the History Museum, the Teddy Bear Museum, etc. Heyri is always exhibiting something.

The Ddargi Village was found by Choi MunGue who made "Ssamgi-gil" at Insa-dong. Here is decorated in the character of Ddargi, and it is so popular as much as its mascot 'Heyri'

We saw the Toy Museum, Teddy Bear Museum and several galleries. First, the Toy Museum exhibits the following: each era's popular and variety toys. All of them exhibited in their specific characters. And on every wall the of the buildings are paintings or toys which are respectively different. This is a fantastic place is for children and this place is fun and imaginative for children. Also, it is a memorable place for adults, because maybe they used children to play with these toys.

The Teddy Bear Museum exhibits teddy bears which are made not of fabric, but of a new fabric and material. Also it exhibits parody on some celebrities. The feeling of this exhibit is beautiful and comfortabe.

Added in the Heyri, people experience drawing ceramic ware, playing with toys, etc. And Heyri's streets are decorated with many diverse things such as statues of stone or works of steel.

Heyri's restaurants or cafes are decorated with some art works, so people feel the art when they are eating. But the prices inside are higher than Heyri's outside prices.

In Heyri people feel closer to the art. This place unites together music, books, art, instruments, buildings, toys and so on.

If you visit, I recommend to go on the weekend, because most things are open on the weekend such as performances, galleries and museums. People pay for admission for each exhibition. Finally, Heyri is so huge, so select some exhibitions, then look around.
