People who read articles usually feel the dangerousness of jaywalking in front of Daegu University. There are originally no signal lights or barriers there, so many students are put at risk. The road in front of Daegu university also has many cars passing by. We can see three points about the geographical position of Daegu University. There is the last bus stop near the school main gate. Despite there being a pedestrian crossing, most buses drive too fast so many students are put at risk. The second thing are speed bumps. When you walk from the west gate entrance to the main gate entrance, you rarely see any speed bumps. If there are not so many speed bumps on the road near the school, accidents are likely to happen. The third thing is the crosswalk in front of the school gate. There are not many crosswalks, so most students have no choice but to jaywalk in front of the school gates.

 

Due to these points, many students need to know that an accident can occur due to one of these geographical positions. A few days ago, a sad accident occurred in front of the school main gate entrance. Some news describes this accident briefly. One evening, a student who had drunk a lot of alcohol wanted to cross the crosswalk in front of the school main gate entrance. Suddenly, the number 5 express bus drove by too fast. The bus driver could not see the person who wanted to cross the crosswalk, so the sad accident occurred in front of the school. As soon as this accident occurred, the student union had to handle it. Of course, there are prevention education programs for traffic safety. Whose responsibility is that? Many people said, “of course, this is the bus driver’s fault”. After this accident, a barriers was created on the road in front of the school main gate entrance. Will this be effective for traffic accident prevention? In real society, this is actually ineffective. If there are many barriers in front of the school main gate entrance, some people will still jaywalk through them.

 

Why is it ineffective on the road? There are two possible problems. The first problem is the height of the barrier. If something is low enough that we can jump over it, many people will do so at one time or another. That is the real situation! Some people jump over a barrier if they want to go quickly. Therefore, that isn’t impeding prevention for jaywalking. Another problem is the limit of the number of barriers near the road. We can easily see the barriers in front of the school main gate entrance, but we can’t see the min the area from the west gate to the main gate. If you think about the meaning of an accident, maybe you think that accidents have unpredictability in the situation. Maybe the people who install the barriers in front of the school main gate don’t think about unpredictability. In their position, taking action against a traffic accident is the most important thing. So, the number of barriers is limited in front of the school. When we want to prevent another traffic accident, we have to install barriers at another gate and make them higher.

 

Let it be known, what should be done to prevent traffic accidents? If you want to solve a problem, you should see the various points of view. Therefore, in this situation we can find four points of view.

 

The first point of view is from the perspective of the City Hall in Gyeongsan. City Hall should increase the number of barriers in front of the school and not be cornered in one place. They must also set up speed bumps in a straightway. If there are speed bumps which can stop people driving too fast, students will feel safer on the road. The second point of view is via the school. When we walk on campus we can see the traffic guidance people on the school road, but we only see the them in the morning or at home time. For preventing traffic accidents, the school should increase the amount of traffic guidance people and increase the hours in which they can guide us while crossing the street. Furthermore, the school should care for students in front of the school gate and start to teach them about the prevention of traffic accidents.

 

The third point of view is about the bus drivers. Many bus drivers are driving too fast in front of the school gate, and some bus drivers who don’t stop at a bus stop are driving faster than other drivers who should stop. When bus drivers have more care on the road, traffic accidents are reduced in front of school gates. The fourth point of view is regarding the students at DU. Many students are acclimatized to jaywalk in front of the school gates. Therefore, students should be educated about preventing traffic accidents by the school, and should be aware that traffic accidents can occur everyday. When they cross the street in front of the school gates, they have to look right and left on the road.

 

In this way, if these four points of view are followed in harmony with the prevention of accidents, traffic accidents will be reduced in front of the school gates and students should be more careful about jaywalking. When some troubles occur in a situation, we can see the various points of view and then find various plans for a solution.
