Do you know that the last Wednesday of the month is Culture Day? In our school, they have an event to celebrate Culture Day. The Central Museum is offering a creative experience program to make plaster air fresheners with traditional patterns. There will be eight sessions offered during the year, four during the first semester and four during the second semester.

I joined the 2nd session on March 28th. The class began with a brief history about the traditional patterns of Korea. The traditional patterns are depicted in paintings and show various patterns of life, chronicled by earlier generations. Examples include traditional patterns such as the rarity of Bosang-hwamoon, the pleasure of Hee-jamoon, the long life of Sue-jamoon etc.

After the explanation of the traditional patterns, the experience begins. You can choose the scent, the traditional shape frame, and the color you want to use. There are 6 different shapes to choose from. Mix the plaster and water in a certain proportion, add the scent and the oil, and then wait for a beautiful creation to emerge. I wanted to give it to my parents so I chose the Hee-jamoon pattern and added the scent of lavender. While the plaster air freshener hardens, you have to visit the central museum to complete the experience mission, and if you have time, you can make your own mugs.
