Are you interested in school food?

The most anticipated thing in college life for freshmen and the most memorable thing in college life for graduates is the school cafeteria. Many schools in Korea offer delicious meals for their students every day. So, how about Daegu University’s school cafeterias?

With this in mind, I talked to our students about the DU cafeterias. Just about every DU student has eaten at least once in a school cafeteria! It’s time to get some straight and detailed answers to some questions about school food.

What do you usually think about school food? Are you satisfied with the plates? There are various cafeterias in our school, but some students usually visit cafeterias close to their college.

However, each restaurant offers distinctive and delicious food. I hope this article will help you find out about other cafeterias where you can go to treat your taste buds.

I had a pleasant conversation with two staff members from popular cafeterias currently at our school.

First, we spoke to the manager of Welly& cafeteria. Then, we interviewed the manager at the Student Union cafeteria.

We have safe delivery of foodstuffs through the large distribution center of CJ. And we do regular food hygiene education and cook in a clean environment.

Q5. What sets Welly& cafeteria apart from the other cafeterias on campus?

Our difference is that there is a dist that is cooked right away. And we reflect customer needs through regular surveys.

In addition, since the location of our restaurant is close to K-PACE, many disabled students come to here. So we are providing a service that informs them of the menu, guides them to their seats, and even provides them with food.

Q6. Are there any events or services except serving food at the Welly& cafeteria?

We have monthly fun events and dessert events. For example, a culture project with CJ provides admission tickets to ‘Sho Me The Money’ and CGV movie tickets. Also, we provide products by holding a music recommendation event. Nevertheless, there are events students’ surveys and using Instagram.

Q7. Feel free to tell the students what you want to say.

We will continue to strive to provide delicious meals in a clean and pleasant environment!

Q1. Please introduce yourself.

Hello. I’m Hyo-Seon Jeon, a nutritionist at the Student Union cafeteria.

Q2. Tell me about the three most popular menu items at the Student Union cafeteria.

There are many menu items in our cafeteria, but among them, stew is the most popular. And by area, soft tofu stew, Vietnamese rice noodles, and a bowl of rice topped with grilled thin pork belly are most popular.

Q3. When you make a new menu item at the Student Union cafeteria, how do you come up with it?

The menu is determined through meetings with a nutritionist and a chef of the community.

We do our best to reflect students’ preferences. For examples, if there are too many toppings on the rice cover, it may not be eaten. So, the problem is reflected and the recipe is changed and supplemented.

Q4. Tell me about what you do when you serve your students.

The distribution of food and materials will take place in the morning at the headquarters of the food supplier. In the course of that, we examine the ingredients, and the cook makes recipes, taste tests, and coordinates to check for any abnormalities that might arise. We put hygiene and safety first and provide healthy food to students.

Q5. What set the Student Union cafeteria apart from the other cafeterias on campus?

Our difference is that the ingredients are as cold and fresh as possible. In particular, we are a communicative restaurants. We try to communicate with students as much as possible.

Q6. Are there any events or services except serving food at the Student Union cafeteria?

The events are designed by me, a nutritionist. The most recent one was Pepero Day. It was Sunday, but I was thinking about what kind of event to prepare for students. So, I thought up the event when the students found a coupon in cafeteria, we would give them snacks in exchange for the coupon.

I will continue to try and provide various events because I want to impress students with fun events.

Q7. Feel free to tell the students what you want to say.

It will be the cafeteria, “Of the students, by the student, for the student.”

I hope students will be interested in the Student Union cafeteria and keep watching for us. Thank you very much.
