Accident at the School Festival
¼Û¼öºó | ½ÂÀÎ2019.10.15 15:24

Have you ever been the victim of theft at school? School is usually a safe place, but sometimes it is dangerous because it is a place that anyone can come in.

One of the potential dangers on campus is theft. For example, during the last school festival several students reported being the victim of theft. Sometimes thefts are carried out by fellow students, but it can also by committed by people from outside the Daegu University community who trespass on campus. The crime reported during the festival was committed by an outsider who broke into the Social Science College and stole expensive items from students.

I met a student who was a victim of the crime and she told me an intriguing story about it. Let’s find out what happened during the last festival.

<Interviewee> Ho-Jin Jung [A Daegu University student]

Q1. Please tell me specifically about the theft that took place during the festival. Were you the only victim of the crime?

On the day of the festival, my friend and I had our laptops stolen by someone. At first, I thought it was a mistake made by someone I knew. But the next day, we still couldn’t find our laptops. My department’s senior also had his bag and wallet stolen on the same day.

Q2. How did you deal with the theft? What happened after that?

The next day, I searched the CCTV recordings to find the thief. But I couldn’t find out who he was because he was an outsider who broke into the school building. I reported it to the police, but I couldn’t find the lost items.

Q3. Why do you think this theft happened? What do you think should be done to prevent theft on campus?

I don’t think that school security is very secure. So, I think the school security should be improved.

Q4. Do you have any words of advice to help prevent other students from becoming the victims of theft?

Let’s be vigilant about our surroundings. Keep an eye on your belongings and watch out for unfamiliar people snooping around your college!

Due to the frequent access of outsiders on campus, I’m worried about the possibility of more serious crimes than theft taking place. The school needs to improve their security by providing systems and rules for the students.

L.L.F readers! When you participate in various events at school, be sure to keep an eye on your things. Don’t let yourself become a victim of theft on campus. Thank you for reading!
