Mandatory closure of large discount markets aims to support the survival of small business owners, limiting their competitive advantage to some extent and allowing customers to use traditional markets.

Due to mandatory closure of large discount markets, the demand for online shopping increases  and it is against the purpose of protecting traditional markets, not increasing the gains in surrounding commercial districts such as traditional markets.

To make it easier to shop on weekends, the government decided to abolish the mandatory holidays on the second and fourth Sunday of the month for discount markets. Instead, the government decided to set the second and fourth Mondays of the month as holidays for the large markets.
