The famous TV program 'Yoon's Restaurant' where four actors and actresses cook and sell in Australia came to an end last Saturday. They were not famous cooks and hadn't even sold any food in Korea, but they succeeded in Australia with an interesting menu. These days, not only 'Yoon's Restaurant' but many young people have attempted their restaurant businesses in the world. One of them is 'Cupbop', which started with a small food truck in the American state of Utah three years ago and has increased their sales to more than 8 million dollars. What is the reason why they have made such a great success with some cups of rice in a foreign land, the United States of America? The following are three reasons I found.

First of all, they offer cupbops quickly with little wait time. "In the U.S.A, many Americans spend more than 30 minutes to wait for food, but actually fast food began in the U.S.A." said Junghun Song, the CEO of Cupbop. He added, "so, I used this to my advantage." To serve cupbops as soon as possible, workers in food trucks try to make cupbops quickly.

Secondly, the idea of glocalization. They tried to find flavors that Americans would like, and they developed 5 items for the menu: Korean Style BBQ Beef, Korean Style Spicy BBQ Pork, Korean style BBQ Chicken, Korean Style Veggie Noodles and Tofu Kimchi Cupbop for vegetarians. Furthermore, they developed a lot of spicy levels of sauces ranging from 1 to 10.

Finally, communicate continuously. They have communicated through SNS with consumers. After asking questions like 'What kind of cupbop would you like to eat?' and 'Where should we open new restaurants?', they set up food trucks and restaurants. They also held many events like giving out dumplings when two people kiss in front of a food truck on Kiss Day and delivering free for lunch time.

They have undergone many trials and errors, but currently have been catching a lot of popularity with Americans. I think although many troubles can come when you start anything, young people's passion and of course Daegu University students can overcome everything.
