Did you see this poster or hear the notice regarding this poster? It's about the 'Presidential Lecture Series' program. It aims to foster creative talented people through extracurricular programs, who will lead the future society for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It is one of the ACE plus businesses of Daegu University.

I am going to introduce this ‘Presidential Lecture Series’ program through an interview with a student who listened to all lectures. I hope readers who did not participate in this program read this article with curiosity and attention. Readers who participate in reading this article can compare your thinking and feelings about it. Let’s begin.

Hye-Rim(Interviewer): Hello! Nice to meet you.

Sung-Min(Interviewee): Hello! Nice to meet you, too.

Hye-Rim: Please introduce yourself.

Sung-Min: Hello! My name is 'Sung-Min Lee'. I am a sophomore majoring in Special Education.

Hye-Rim: How did you find out about 'Presidential Lecture Series' program, and why did you apply?

Sung-Min: I am a sophomore departmental student representative in Special Education. I received a notice promoting this program, and I was already interested in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I wanted to listen to the lectures about the Fourth Industrial Revolution through the 'Presidential Lecture Series' program, so I applied for it.

Hye-Rim: Do you know what the purpose of this program is? This program aims to foster creative talented people for the future.

Sung-Ming: Yes.

Hye-Rim: Do you think this program seems to be working well, considering its purpose?

Sung-Min: Yes. The big theme of these lectures is the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Through this program, I could listen to many lectures about how we should change to think, adapt and live to rapidly evolve the fourth industrial revolution. But, there seems to be a lack of connection to the subject of each lecture. That was a bit disappointing.

Hye-Rim: This program is currently up to the 7th lecture out of a total of 10. What was the most impressive lecture you've heard?

Sung-Min: The 2nd lecture, 'Creative Design and Ideas' (given by Professor Sang-Won Yoo), was the most impressive for me. This is because I listened to the concept ‘Sixth Industrial Revolution’ for the first time through this lecture, and it impressed me a lot. I got to know that we have to think about humans first, and apply this idea to whatever we do in the ‘Sixth Industrial Revolution’. The professor talked about Sixth Industrial Revolution connected with art. It was amazing and interesting and I was satisfied to have a chance to know the art field.

Hye-Rim: If this same program opens again next year, who do you want to recommend these lectures to?

Sung-Min: I want to recommend these lectures to the College of Education students. These students will become the teachers of the future. They will teach the students who will live in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I think the College of Education students have to know more about the concept of the Fourth Industrial Revolution than anyone else, in order to teach their students. They have to raise the competence encountered in the new generation. It will be helpful to both College of Education students and the new generation students.

Hye-Rim: If this program opens next year with a new theme, which theme do you want it to have?

Sung-Min: I want to listen to lectures about ‘community spirt’, because I usually think that this world is going to become extremely individualistic, when I listen to the news these days in Korea. If lectures about community spirt open next year, they could help the students inculcate the community's mind and give them a chance to think about how to live in this world together.

Hye-Rim: This is the last question: Can you give some feedback about this program?

Sung-Min: I was very sorry about the time problem. During the lectures, I heard all of the lecturers say, "The time is too short to transmit all the knowledge I prepared for you", and I agree. If this program opens next year, I recommend an increase to the duration of the lecture. This will make it a lot more effective. Secondly, the start and finishing time was too ambiguous. For this series, the lectures started at 12p.m. or 5:30p.m. This is usually class time, so it was a very uncomfortable time slot for students. I would like to say that if the producers of this program want to have more students participate in this program, they should change the time slot while considering the students' class times next time.

Hye-Rim: Thank you for participating in this interview today.

Sung-Min: You‘re welcome.

Did you enjoy this interview? I was very interested during the interview because I could listen to Sung-Min‘s personal but firm feelings and thinking. I hope you also feel a similar way.

Daegu University will make many new programs next year as ACE plus businesses. Pay attention to when the programs start, and try to participate in them. It could be a very useful and exciting experience for you. Thank you.
