Hello, DU students! I am Ha Yeong Yang at theLLF. Did you go on a trip lately? I got a chance to go to Tsushima Island during the first semester for the press workshop. When I went to the Island, I was worried about my final exams. However, I changed my mind and thought “this trip gives me breadth of mind.”On the first day, we (the LLF team) started for Busan Port International Passenger Terminal.

Unlike my earlier worry about the trip, I was excited about sitting on the seat in the ship. By the time we reached the island, a guide was waiting for us in front of the port. Most people think that when they go to Japan they must eat sushi even people who hate seafood. Yes, we ate sushi at lunchtime. A guide led us into the dining room. There were some Japanese and cameramen who work in home shopping. And then, the most important thing in travel is the picture! So, we took a picture to remember this time in front of the port and Japanese vending machines.

After we finished photo time, we rode a bus and arrived at a famous wooded valley. A funny thing happened to me. I accidentally dropped my shoe down the wood bridge. People were surprised and tried to help me find the shoe. I was embarrassed and felt sorry for the other people. Fortunately, the shoe fell on a tree, not in the valley below so I could find the shoe and took a breath.

We left the valley behind and went to historical sites about Princess Deokhye. In 2016, people who watched the movie “Princess Deokhye” can easily know her life and sad history from Joseon. Deokhye married with a Tsushima count named SoDaKeYui (소다케유키). I had a sad feeling about the princess because she wanted to stay in Joseon but there was a fact she could not live Joseon herself. I thought that losing her country is a miserable thing as I watched the lecture about Korean history.

Next, we went to the house of a literary person, 춘향전. Most people know the story of Chunhyangjeon. The man who translated Chunhyangjeon into Japanese lives on Tsushima Island. After we did some sightseeing, we started shopping at T-ara mart which we loved. There were many types of seafood, snacks and general merchandise. If you wanted to buy something or like to see a variety of items, you should go to Tsushima Island.

After shopping we went back to our hotel and collapsed on our beds like corpses. My mind was full of energy but, my body was not. On the second day or last day, my most memorable and impressive memories were the beach and shopping at big mart. First, Tsushima beach was as clear as glass and if you soaked your feet in the water, you could feel cool and get the best photo. As mentioned above, you should do some shopping on this island. It is not cheaper than other parts of Japan, but it is cheaper than Korea. I hope when you have a chance to go to Tsushima Island, you will go there for rest.
