Paparazzi Always Follows Celebrities
¾çÇÏ¿µ | ½ÂÀÎ2018.10.02 00:43

People who like some celebrity want to know who he/she meets and what clothes he/she usually wears. On the other hand, people who hate some celebrity want to harm the celebrity’s image. These facts make a new job, paparazzi. In Korea, if most people think of paparazzi, they will absolutely imagine “Dispatch”. That press company is famous for its coverage of celebrities. For example, people on the internet said that if Dispatch takes a picture with a celebrity, that picture is clear and factual. Every January 1st, they open up Pandora’s Box with celebrity romance rumors. In our view, as the publicy, we enjoy these rumors and want to know specific facts. However, from the celebrity's view, they said that they are normal people like others, so they want to protect their private life.

We should think how it would feel if we were a celebrity and lost our private life because of the paparazzi? If that happened, we would be stressed about taking a picture and catching someone’s eyes. However, other people give an opinion that celebrities are public figures so fans have a right to know. Or some people say that if you want to be a celebrity to earn money, you must take certain risks about your private life.

But invasion of privacy by paparazzi has intensified day by day because of our information society. For example, do you know actress Ji-Woo Choi? She married a younger man and she didn't want the public to know about her husband's private information because her husband is normal person, not a celebrity. So, she protects his private information so he can lead anormal life with his family. However, Dispatch tried to know about her husband and finally they found out his information (age, house, job, name, name before change a name) and then reported it for public consumption.

What is the criterion about invasion of privacy for a celebrity? That is ambiguous because the criterion is subjective on particular behavior. For example, some people think that taking a picture is okay for celebrities. Other people think that taking a picture is invasion of private to a celebrity in their daily life. Therefore, the surest criterion is whether a celebrity gives permission. Certainly, you must put yourself in a celebrity’s shoes. That way is the best way. If you do that, you can protect acelebrity’s private life.
