Daegu University is running many programs to support students starting their own businesses, however many students don’t know about these start-up programs. Let me introduce with emphasis what start-up programs are available to students, and then I will show you the start-up programs that the support will apply for this December.

For now, the start-up support group is carrying out five major projects: the preliminary start-up package project, the initial start-up package project, the start-up leap package project, the sports industry job business and the Inopolis campus project. Among the 5 projects, preliminary start-up package projects and early start-up package projects are mainly used by students.

A preliminary start-up package business supports prospective founders including students. The initial start-up package business will be eligible for support from prospective start-ups including students to start-up that began less than three years ago.

The preliminary start-up package business can be applied to anyone with a business idea. It will provide up to 100 million won in support for production of products. In addition, they can participate in competency training and eduction to support global start-ups. The initial start-up package project founder will be supported by up to 100 million won to produce products as well. There are many programs and benefits that students can participate in within the initial start-up package project.

First, there is a start-up club. Start-up clubs can receive up to 5 million won for developing and operating items. If students complete 60 hours of start-up activities and participate in the start-up competition, they can also be recognized for two credits under the “Start-up Substitution Credit System.” Finally, if students are selected as one of the best club members through a performance report, they can receive a scholarship for a club in the best start-up.

Next, there is a start-up class in the university that opens as a course. About 60 students with excellent grades can receive 300,000 won per person in a foundation course scholarship. Next is a special lecture on starting a business. The lecture features a Daegu University graduate or famous founder as a special lecturer. Other programs include start-up camps and start-up competitions at home and abroad.

Finally, I will introduce the school start-up programs in December. First, there is ‘The fifth networking day of the preliminary start-up package support project in 2019.’ The targets are the preliminary start-up package team members. The event will feature special lectures and mentoring to enhance the competence of prospective start-ups. It is mid-December 2019. It will be held at the Coworking Spaces in the Business Incubation Center 1 at Daegu University.

Second, there is ‘The 4th DU Dream Global Start-up Camp.’ All students attending Daegu University are eligible to apply. The event will be held in Singapore. A tour of local start-ups and local professional entrepreneurs and VC networking will take place in Singapore. The date will be from Dec. 3, 2019 to Dec. 6, 2019.
