A Fabricated Dream: PRODUCE
³ª½ÂÈñ | ½ÂÀÎ2020.04.08 15:59

IZ*ONE and X1, made their debut on the Mnet audition program 'PRODUCE' series, and received a different ending. The main producer and chief producer recognized that it was all a fabrication and claimed that including an outside ranking trainee was caused partially by a trainee's intention to quit.

In December of last year, CJ ENM expressed a statement of aplolgy, cooperated with a police investigation, gave a monetary reward to a victim trainee, and did their best to resume IZ*ONE and X1's activities. Having experienced the most adverse criticism and controversy in the series, X1 eventually disbanded. 'I.O.I and Wanna One' were end activities but raised doubts about the final member. Meanwhile the police announced the discovery of a data error.

IZ*ONE delayed a prearranged schedule and resumed their activities in February. Even then they were still encased by fabrication controversy and their appearance on public TV was divided into pros and cons.

CJ ENM promised compensation, but nothing has been done until now. They are not disclosing the original ranking and said 'its individual deviation'. Korea Communications Standards Commission delayed sanctions by reason of the case is still under way.

Enrolled student B who participated in the PRODUCE series said, "It is not only defeating the purpose of the group created by the national producer's vote, it is deceitful to trainees who made effort in their debut and the national producers who cheer trainees. The psychological damage of victim trainees can't be straightened out by monetary reward.

The advancement of funds for music, Mnet promised, needed to get back to victim trainees, not donations. Unfortunately their popularity, career and reward of stage they justly deserved when they debuted as final members will not become reality."

It is not a unique situation to the program. We have seen a society that says identically fair opportunities are given, but more often than not we encounter a fabricated society. What we really need to possess to succeed is not ability, self-expression, or intelligence capabilities, but someone's wealth, backing, and fabricated luck.
