Most countries have Juvenile Laws. However, not all the standards are unified. The Korean Juvenile Law has a broader scope of protections compared to other countries. In addition, Koreans fall under juvenile law until they graduate from high school.

Are the protections provided by the juvenile law positively affecting Korea? The juvenile law was originally created with good intentions to protect youths who haven't matured yet. Young people still lack the capacity to regulate their behavior compared to an adult. In fact, young people have less experience than adults, which can lead to incorrect decisions.

However, there are more and more cases of juvenile law abuse. Let's take Busan Girls' Middle School as an example. In this case, the girl was brutally assaulted just before her death. The perpetrators did not end with these things. They knew they were included under the juvenile law and would not be punished when they assaulted the victim.

Another example is the recent middle school traffic accident. This middle school student secretly drove his parents' car. He was driving at night when he collided with a man who was driving a motorcycle. So, the man died, and the middle school student survived. This middle school student was not punished because he was protected by the juvenile law. The student even showed off his actions on social media.

Looking at these examples, I do not think the juvenile law is being used properly. Korea, like other countries, should reduce the scope of its juvenile law.
