The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety hasexpanded the target of supplying N95 masks to eliminate blind spots for internationalresidents who have stayed in Korea for a long time, but have not been able topurchase masks because they were not insured before the date of April 4th2020.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety says thatregistered foreigners (including residence reporters) can purchase N95 masksfrom retailers, such as national pharmacies, if they present their alienregistration card, permanent residence card, or residence card.

In the past, it was necessary to carry ahealth insurance card, but as of April 20th, even without a health insurancecard, it is possible to purchase N95 masks by presenting an identificationcard. Thanks to the fact that all people in Korea deserve the right to purchaseN95 masks, experts did not expect any public outcry and that has proven to bethe case.

There is a limit of two masks per person perweek. The 5-day masks system will be applied to everyone. The 5-day system providesequal chance to purchase N95 masks for every person. However, masks cannot bepurchased without a valid ID and no exceptions to the ID rule will be made. Evergreen Pharmacy, located at 53-5, MeadowRoad, Jinryang-eup, Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk, is currently selling N95 masks underthe conditions above. Masks can also be purchased at any convenience store whenthey are in stock.
