Card News : Person of the Month - Lim Byung-Geuk

Lim Byung Geuk sought asylum in North Gando in 1917. He attended the Korean National Association and took the lead as foreign policy chief. He proceeded with negotiations for cooperation with the Chinese government’s. He was assigned Chief of Clothing in ‘The Northern Korean Military Authorities’ and was responsible for the supply of goods needed for the independence movement. He later took the lead as second company commander in the Korean National Military.

 

He provided support for mid-level commanders of the allied army for national independence in ‘The battle of Fengwudong(06.1920)’ and ‘The battle of Qingshanli(10.1920). After he moved bases to Jangbaekhyun, he joined the ‘Korean Independence Military Spending’ and worked as the head of security.

 

As a member of the council of representatives in early 1923, he helped reorganize the provisional government and armed struggle in order to solve the pending issue of the independence movement. He was planning a patriotic struggle for the fifth anniversary of the March First Independence Movement but was found out. As a result, he was put on probation for 15 years beginning in September 1924.
