There is construction in Daegu City to extend Metro Line 1 to Hayang Station with the aim of completing it in 2023. There is also a current plan to relocate the Wolbae Car Depot on the Metro Line 1 to another place. As the development of large-scale residential areas around the depot began in earnest in the 2000s, it became a nuisance that damages the residential environment.

Residents have complained of noise pollution caused by the depot. In response, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin proposed a plan to integrate the Wolbae depot with the Ansim Car Depot in Sabok-dong. However, there was extreme opposition from residents in Ansim, so the project to relocate the Wolbae depot has been on hold for two years.

Recently, Yeong-Gwang Academy, a corporation at Daegu University, said we could provide our campus site as a relocation site for the Wolbae Car Depot if the plan for the route of metro line 1 to be extended to Hayang Station was changed to Daegu University. In other words, Daegu University proposed to Daegu City a condition to rent the relocation site of the Wolbae depot for free for a long time to change the plan to extend the line 1 route.

This issue seems to be actively under consideration by the Daegu Metropolitan Government as it drew attention to the city council's correction questions and media reports in November 2020.
