DU New Happy Dormitory for Disabled and Students
±è³ª°æ | ½ÂÀÎ2021.04.03 10:34

Prior to the start of this semester, a new dormitory was completed near the main gate of Daegu University. The name of the new dormitory is Happiness Dormitory.

The dormitory is 11 stories high and accommodate about 600 students. All rooms are double occupancy. Starbucks and Daegu Bank will be introduced as auxiliary facilities of Happy Dormitory. In addition, various industries that reflect students' preferences will come in.

I could hear the details through an interview with a student living in the Happiness Dormitory.

Q1. How did you first get to know about the Happiness Dormitory?

I got to know about it after reading about the Happiness Dormitory on the Daegu University blog.

Q2. What are your expectations for the Happiness Dormitory and your feelings after living there?

First of all, the facility was expected to be clean and convenient in that it was a new building before joining the company. What I felt after living there is that the facility is clean, as well as wide and soundproof. Also, I was worried that the water pressure in the bathroom would be weak because it was a joint facility, but I am satisfied with the water pressure.

Q3. Which additional facilities would you like to use at the Happiness Dormitory and why?

I hope that a study cafe comes into the dormitory. There is a computer room, a desk, and a chair on the first floor of the Happiness Dorm, but I think it is too small for many students to study because the place is very small. Therefore, I think it would be nice to have a study cafe that can accommodate many students.

Q4. What do you want the dormitory to be improved?

It is a shame that everything that students need to live, such as water purifiers and trash cans, exists only in even numbers. It would be good to place water purifiers and trash cans on all floors for students’ convenience. Also, since it has not been long since it was completed, it is regrettable that the dormitory is not equipped with manuals of amenities (vending machines, photocopiers, etc.)

Q5. What are the internal structures and facilities for disabled students?

The fact that there is no threshold for toilets for the disabled and that it is easy to ride in a wheelchair as a large space. Also, rooms for students with disabilities have tilted mirrors and call buttons for students’ convenience, which I think is also a facility for students with disabilities.

The Happiness Dormitory seems to be especially comfortable for disabled students. I hope that students will be happy dorm residents. I also hope that many students will be interested in the Happiness Dorm.
