Robin Williams was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1951, and studied acting at the Juilliard School of Acting in 1973. He made his debut on the TV variety show “Laugh-In” in 1997. In 1980, he made his big screen Hollywood debut with the movie “Popeye”.

During his career he appeared in more than 70 movies. In particular, he gained popularity in Korea for his performance in the movie "Dead Poets Society" which included the famous line, “Carpe Diem.” In the film he plays John Keating, a teacher who inspires his students at a prestigious high school to appreciate freedom and romance.

Williams won four Golden Globe Awards including Best Actor in a Musical Comedy. He was also nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor. In addition, he won two awards for American actors, three Grammy Awards, and was selected as the winner of the Special Achievement Award at the Emmy Awards held on August 25, after his death.
