Changes of Education Around the World After Covid-19
±è¹Î¼ | ½ÂÀÎ2021.06.07 12:28

Nowadays, the covid-virus has changed many things in our life. Above all, I want to tell you about how education has been changed around the world.

According to the news, because of the virus schools in 164 countries around the world are currently closed and 87% of the world's students are unable to go to school. So, many organizations are trying to solve this problem. A case in point is 'UNESCO's'- recently announced 'World Education-Union' which is to build an online class system with Microsoft.

Let us look more closely at three specific countries. First is America. Before Covid-19, Amercia had been continously expanding online classes for more than a decade because of its ability to provide a customized learning environment. But America's Internet infrastructure is not as advanced as Korea's, so remote learning has been restricted depending on individual professors and students. So, the government provided financial support to solve this problem.

The second country is France. To fill the educational gap, they ran a platform called "My classroom is Home". However, overall system equipment is needed due to management and other issues. The same is true of Japan. Japan is also doing online classes at home. Lessons are posted online in the morning and attendance is checked by the number of views on the post. In addition, tests are held at home on a designated day. But in the process, there have been many problems that need to be solved.

Despite the challenges, there has been one very successful example. That is the "Minerva school". It has been in operation since before Covid-19, without a campus. Students are given lectures as if they were chatting with professors. Evaluations are also based on students' achievements, not researches. Currently, more than 10,000 students from 160 countries have graduated from this school.

As you can see from these cases, Covid-19 has made many changes not only in our lives but also in the field of education. There are many problems, but this can also be thought of as an opportunity for change.

So, we should change our education style. The task left for us until the end of Covid-19 is that this education will serve as the foundation for changes in education. As a result, we should try to create a better educational environment.
