Very good news came to Daegu University students. In the future, Daegu University students will also be able to commute by subway. For students who have always changed subways and buses, transportation costs and transportation time will be reduced.

The project to extend Daegu Subway Line 1 was finally included in the "4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan" held by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport on June 29. A total of three additional stations will be built from Ansim Station, the end of the existing Line 1, Hayang Station, Daegu University Station (East-West Intersection), and Kumho Station (Yeongcheon Horse Racing Park), aiming to be fully opened in 2022.

Unlike the existing Line 1, this extension project is not only constructed by ground rail, but also has low project costs compared to the extension due to the use of the closed line site of the Daegu Line. Once the project is completed, it is expected that access from Ansim to Hayang will be possible within 10 minutes, greatly improving response and transportation convenience due to increased wide-area transportation demand between Daegu and Gyeongsan, including 130,000 students from major universities in Gyeongsan.

Meanwhile, the three new stations received the highest preliminary certification rating for the first obstacle-free living environment (barrier-free) as an urban railway, and Hayang Station on the old Daegu Line will be newly established in consideration of the convenience of movement with the new station.
