From January 7 to February 22, 2022, an online Philippine educational volunteer program was held at Daegu University's College of Education. Due to the recent COVID-19 situation, most of the overseas volunteer activities have been canceled, and many children have difficulty receiving instruction. However, these days, online educational services are also emerging as new alternatives.

The educational volunteer program has been supported by the Ministry of Education's National Institute of International Education since last year. This is part of a project to dispatch overseas short-term educational volunteers for preliminary teachers involving five universities, including Korean Universities. It converts educational volunteer activities previously conducted locally into online programs.

Specifically, our university volunteer group prepared online educational volunteer programs for two elementary schools in Antique, Philippines. In January, the items needed for the class were sent to the local are inadvance, and classes on science on Korean culture were conducted. As it was conducted online, preparations were more thorough.

Students and professors were left various impressions about this activity. Ahn Jong-min(Special Education Department), a student who usually uses a wheelchair due to physical discomfort, said, "It is not easy to teach in English, but seeing Filipino children enjoying the hands-on activities we prepared makes me feel rewarded." In addition, Cha Jung-ho, the organizer of the volunteer work, said, "The educational volunteer work that has been steadily carried out for the past 10 years has been suspended, and online volunteer work has been successfully carried out."

They are maximizing the effectiveness of the class by applying the skills through two years of non-face-to-face classes. In fact, Daegu University's College of Education is performing well every year, producing a number of successful students in the national and public teacher entrance examination. The outstanding performance is expected to continue well into the future as students are actively engaged in online educational volunteer activities as described above.
