On September 23, 2023, the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 was held at Hangzhou Sports Park Stadium in China. A total of 11907 athletes from 45 countries participated.

The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 was originally scheduled to take place in 2022, but it was postponed to 2023 because of the spread of COVID-19 and crowd control inside China.

There were many sports events such as archery, basketball, and volleyball, etc. Korea ranked third place in the overall ranking and won 42 gold medals. It seemed that it was a competition that allowed us to feel the need for active support and dedicated training.

Surprisingly, players from the Daegu University fencing team made significant contributions at the Hangzhou Asian Games on the 8th. Heo Joon, as a member of the men's national team won the team game gold medal.

This achievement has brought honor to both the nation and the university. Additionally, student Hong Hyo-jin also competed as a member of the women's national team and secured a silver medal.

Furthermore, Coach Go Nak-chun of Daegu University's fencing team mentioned, "Thanks to all athletes, we have elevated our university to a prestigious fencing institution."

Ultimately, we will continue to exert even more effort in discovering and nurturing athletes to ensure that fencing maintains its reputation as a prominent discipline in major international competitions.
