Recently, high-caffeine drinks and high-sugar foods have become popular, raising concerns about the health of teenagers. If you look at the streets, you can easily see low-priced franchise cafes and Tanghulu shops coated with sugar on fruits, and you can see them holding coffee or Tanghulu after school.

 

These foods are easy to access and are popular with teenagers because they can be eaten simply and comfortably by students who lack time due to study.

 

However, the problem is that the caffeine content of coffee consumed by teenagers exceeds the maximum recommended daily amount. According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the recommended daily intake of caffeine for adolescents weighing 50kg is 125mg. However, the low-cost coffee brand's 625ml iced americano has 237mg of caffeine, exceeding the recommended amount.

 

In addition, excessive sugar intake is a problem. According to the World Health Organization, the recommended daily intake of sugar for adolescents is about 20g, and one Tanghulu contains 10 to 25g of sugar.

 

Teenagers who have become a part of their daily routine of eating high-caffeine drinks and high-sugar foods can be very dangerous. Consuming a lot of caffeine can interfere with the absorption of calcium in the body, affect growth, and cause insomnia, and high-sugar foods can cause diabetes, so the culture of adolescents' eating habits needs to change.
