Universal Design for College Students
ÀÌ¹Î¾Æ | ½ÂÀÎ2023.12.11 17:36

A term called “universal design” involves planning and designing architecture, environments, and services in a way that anyone, regardless of their age, gender, nationality, or disabilities, can comfortably use them.

Some of the principles of a universal design suggest that they would have to require low physical effort, sizing, and spacing for approachable use, as well as tolerance for error for people to experience a simple yet equitable use.

Since schools are places of education, it is important to take into consideration the socially disadvantaged in school facilities and to exclude prejudice. Some of the great examples of Universal Design are actually in our university's campus.

Since our school is known for our disability-friendly facilities, every single building in our school is equipped with ramps, toilets, and parking lots for the disabled to make the entire campus environment a barrier-free space.

A special lounge facility for the international students, the Intercultural Lounge in the College of Art & Design, is believed to strengthen Daegu University's appearance as a global campus.

In order for Universal Design to be accessible for everyone, the government, which is responsible for the safety and happiness of the people, and public institutions should continue to lead the steps in the right direction.
